At 38 years and five months old, Djokovic became the oldest men’s singles champion in ATP Tour history. He defeated Musetti, a rising player 15 years his junior, in a grueling three-hour final that pushed him to his physical limits. The image captures the physical and emotional release of an athlete competing at the highest level beyond the conventional peak performance age in professional tennis. The 2025 season followed a year in which Djokovic won the Olympic gold medal in Paris, completing the Career Golden Slam (a distinction achieved by winning all four Grand Slam singles titles as well as an Olympic gold medal), while extending his record as the only man in history with 24 Grand Slam singles titles. The tournament was relocated from Belgrade to Athens for the 2025 season, marking the return of ATP-level tennis to the Greek capital after more than three decades.
