2021 Greece Wildfires, Athens suburbs (Photography)
August, 2021: The 2021 Greece wildfires were multiple wildfires happening in Greece since early August 2021, and have killed 3 people, injured at least 20 others and burned dozens of homes, after a historical heatwave for the country with the highest temperatures reaching 47.1°C (116.78°F).
In northern Athens flames swept through major residential towns such as Varibobi, Tatoi and Thrakomakedones located just 20km away from the city center. The fire on Mount Parnitha on the outskirts of the city forced the evacuation of thousands of people with emergency crews facing winds and high temperatures as they were battling to contain its spread.
